We want to share a bittersweet update with our Crack The Sky family regarding a transition in the band.

Our original bassist, Joe Macre, who rejoined the group in 2025 for their 50th anniversary year, has made the decision to step down from performing to focus on his health. Joe is a founding pillar of our sound, and while we will deeply miss his incredible presence on stage, his health and well-being are our absolute priorities.

Stepping back into the bass chair is a face—and a groove—that will be incredibly familiar to long-time fans: the legendary Carey Ziegler. Carey previously held down the low end with Crack The Sky for more than 20 years, and we are thrilled to welcome him back home to the stage.

Joe and Carey share a profound mutual respect, a lifelong friendship, and an extraordinary musical bond. As Carey steps back in, the entire band sends our deepest love, gratitude, and support to Joe.
